AAAAH my aching everything... Week 13

What a long couple of weeks this has been. Besides the fact that I'm pregnant and exhausted (despite consistently getting 8-10 hours of sleep almost every night), I'm in the midst of preparing for finals AND work has been somewhat of a mad house. Busy busy busy!

In baby news, my clothes are starting to feel tighter around the midsection. I bought my first pair of shorts for the summer at work. Hopefully they still fit when the weather finally gets nice. They have a stretchy waistband, so as long as my butt doesn't get too huge I think I'll be fine. Not really much to update on besides the random mood swings and relentless exhaustion--although I can't complain too much about being tired. I'd rather be tired than nauseous (happy that's over.)

The two things I'm having trouble with are kicking caffeine and eating healthy. The problem with eating healthy is nothing healthy sounds good (and I've gotten to be a REALLY picky eater again). The problem with not having caffeine is I can't make it through an 8-hour work day and a 4-hour class without the boost. I've read that I can have up to 200-mg, but I know it's so much better for the baby if I don't drink it at all. I've still been getting Tazo Chais before work, which isn't the worst for caffeine content (except I drink almost a venti almost every day, which is about 140 mg or less).

Am I a bad parent already? =/

  1. Oh courtney u are not a bad parent. I drink a cup of coffee every single day and i did when i was pregnant with dakota too. She was born completely fine and so far there are no indications that this baby has grown a second head. You of course have to do what you think is best for you and your baby but i personally am a firm believer that if a cup of coffee can get me more easily through the day so be it. I think a less stressed and caffeinated mommy is better for baby than a stressed one with a caffeine headache.

  2. You have noooo idea how much better that makes me feel. Thanks, Amanda! I know there's so many things that are supposed to be soooo terrible when you're pregnant but really aren't. Guess that's the joy of old wives' tales lol.

  3. Just remember that theres no law that says you have to deprive yourself of everything because you are pregnant. And dont let other people make you feel bad for your decisions. Everyone is different and only you know what is right for you and your baby. I have no doubt you will make smart decisions and you shouldnt doubt yourself either.

  4. Haha! I miss you so much! I think caffeine is the least "bad" thing you could do! At least you don't smoke or chew and I highly doubt you are drinking or doing any other drugs so I'd say you're on the right track. If you want a cookbook that is full of yummy healthy recipes I can send you a copy of rebar! It's soooo good. Also, just for general health knowledge (full of things I didn't know about) there's a book called, "The Great American Detox Diet" by Alexandra Jameson (not saying you should go on a detox while preggers, but just for the knowledge it's super cool). This lady is the girlfriend of Morgan Spurlock. I could send you a copy of that too if you like. Let me know. XOXOXOXO
